The purpose of this study is to identify the barriers that may be removed by integrating BIM with a smart device and to propose a new quality inspection process model that effectively utilizes BIM and smart devices.
Elevating Building Maintenance: The Role of Smart Inspections by KK Forges
The proposed process is configured as an add-in system for the BIM software and consists of four functions: a quality inspection form, a quality data management function, a group messenger, and a quality tracking function. The new inspection work process is implemented based on a BIM-based quality control system that uses a thermal image obtained by a smart device to verify whether or not the construction work meets quality standards.
The feasibility of the new process is verified through a real case study using a tile work quality inspection process. The results show that the new process can be integrated into the existing work practice to significantly reduce inspection time and improve quality.
